Description
B388 HJS is a stunning example of one of the most iconic cars of the 80s, the Ford Escort RS Turbo. Having been subject to a major bare shell restoration in 2018, this Fast Ford presents superbly throughout. The car was stripped down to the bare shell, the paint removed and taken back to bare metal ahead of a superb body restoration with photographic record. The engine and gearbox were fully stripped and rebuilt, as were the brakes and suspension ensuring the car was in excellent mechanical condition on completion. The smart, very clean interior was then re-fitted to the car retaining an original, correct feel. The RS was superbly built back up and since completion has covered less than 2000 miles, recently performing faultlessly on a 100 mile charity classic car run over the North Yorkshire Moors. This example came to us from the North of Scotland where it has spent most of its life and recording just four former keepers on the V5, this is a low ownership, very sharp car that will not disappoint on the road.
Under the bonnet of the RS sits a 1. 6-liter, inline four-cylinder engine enhanced by the forced induction of a Garrett T3 blower Turbocharger. 132bhp is put through the front wheels via a 5-speed transmission and limited slip differential. 60mph is reached within 8. 3 seconds and a top speed has been quoted at 125mph, while not blistering by modern standards, the pure analogue feel of the drive is something to be appreciated by all true petrolheads. The interior is functional, timeless, and driver focussed. The Recaro Bucket seats offer superb support and comfort.
The Ford Escort RS Turbo is an icon of its generation and with immense price increases over the past 10 years it is a sensible choice for both a usable classic or an investment piece.
