Description
December 1964 built, June 1965 registered Morris Cooper S. Off the road for many years until recently. Originally a standard car with no factory fitted optional extras, it seems to have had quite a life as the bodyshell appears to be a period factory replacement and many of the external panels have been replaced over the years.
It would have been a Hydrolastic car when built but the suspension is now via rubber cones. There is evidence of a sump guard having been fitted to the front subframe and it has an oil cooler and early BMC Special Tuning oil cooler hoses. Drivers door and rear window are Perspex.
Interior trim is black, mainly from a Mk 2 Mini and it has the correct genuine Cooper S speedometer. There is a grab handle on the passenger side cant rail and a genuine right hand petrol tank installed and plumbed in. Running gear is the normal Cooper S discs and drums setup.
The car is currently running with an ADO16 1275cc engine/ gearbox but still with Cooper S carburettors, cylinder head, distributor and dynamo.
It does needs the left hand inner/ outer sill replacing as it has had an oversill fitted which has led to the usual inevitable rust in that area – an M Machine panel is included. The driver’s side has already been replaced.
Imminent loss of storage forces sale of what must be the cheapest running Mk 1 S currently for sale. Please note that the Minilite wheels are not included in the sale and the car will come on standard Mini steel wheels but with a restored set of 5 x 4½” Dunlop LP883 S rims.
