For sale is my 1988 Austin Metro City X, with the A+ Series 998cc engine and four speed manual gearbox. Currently on 57, 284 miles (this will rise slightly, as I still drive it some weekends). It has MOT until 28th Feb 2025.
I bought the Metro in July 2022 from a gentleman who had owned it for 5 years. It is my second Metro, second City X to be exact and I bought this one as my other one was quite a poor example.
It drives very well and has been very reliable, during my ownership it has had the following:
Mk1 steel wheels fitted with brand new tyres. April 2023
Fresh oil, oil filter, spark plugs, ignition leads, ignition coil ballast and coolant flush. Oct 2023.
E10 conversion (I still use super) with fuel lines replaced and inline filter fitted before the carb.
HIF38 carburettor rebuild.
Electronic ignition conversion
New fuel pump
Maniflow stage 1 manifold with twin-box system
K&N cone filter

After the above works were carried out it now drives much better, is more reliable and keeps up much better with modern traffic. The works in Nov 2023 were carried out by Jim Stokes Workshops in Waterlooville.
I still have the original wheels with metric tyres on them, the tyres have plenty of tread and hold air but are twenty years old. I also have the stock airbox, inlet and exhaust manifold and a down pipe which will all be included in the sale.
There is some surface rust as can be seen in the photos (its 36 year old metal and an Austin Metro at that) but the last two MOT testers and JSW all commented on how good the bodywork is for its age.
