1987 Ford XR3 (MFI) in diamond white.
The car has had a full nut and bolt restoration and was completed in 2018.
This XR3i is a totally standard example (apart from the new 90s alpine stereo) but this can be changed to a Ford one easily for the purists).
Bodywork is in excellent condition with no rust and all original panels. Underneath is the same story!! All original floor pans/ sills and chassis painted in diamond White. All 5 original wheels have been refurbished and powder coated in ford silver with new Uniroyal tyres.
Interior is in excellent original condition. (Apart from the stereo). Although this XR3i doesn't have electric windows or mirrors, I think it adds to the aesthetics of a classic car having manual winders.
Factory sunroof works perfectly with no corrosion to the glass frame or sunroof cassette housing.
Parcel shelf is speaker hole free.
Engine/ transmission and suspension are also in tip top condition. During the restoration all these parts were removed and replaced with new if needed. While the engine was in great condition it did have a major overhaul, mainly on the cylinder head with new camshaft and hydraulic lifters. Also had new valve springs.
Gearbox is original and didn't need any major work (just oil seals, gaskets and bushing on the gear linkage). New clutch was also fitted with new automatic adjuster.
Driveshafts have new CV joints and rubber bellows x4. ABS runs off the driveshafts on XR3i's via 2 belts. These are new and works as it should.
Suspension was replaced with Bilstein B4 shock absorbers and standard XR3i spring's.
All rubber bushings have been changed for new.
All seals and gaskets have been replaced. A new cambelt and adjuster bearing have been fitted recently. Not that it's done the mileage but more about the time the last one was done 5 years ago.
Also recently changed was the oil with new Ford oil filter. Cooling system has all new hoses and radiator. The antifreeze has just been replaced with new.
Steering rack is new with new track rod ends.
Braking system had the same treatment as the rest of the car with new components where needed. New master cylinder fitted. Front calipers have been painted silver with new pistons and seals. New discs and pads on the front. New rear drums are painted in black with new shoes / cylinders and retaining springs. All brake pipes have been replaced and also handbrake cables.
Brake fluid has just been changed recently as part of the maintenance.
Fuel system has a brand new fuel tank/ Bosch fuel pump and new E10 rubber hoses.
New heated front screen.
Full tool kit and Jack in with refurbished and power coated spare wheel with matching tyre. Has all original body panels with no welding! The only place on the car that has been welded, is the battery tray. (This has been done to a high standard and is impossible to tell it's been done!)
