Description
Never buy a cheap 944"
Sage advice that I duly ignored.
£15, 000 of restoration later I have learnt the hard way just how true that is.
However, it does mean that there is a lovely, rare, 944 that has been saved and now represents brilliant value.
It's the upgraded S2 model with the bigger 3. 0 engine making c. 215bhp.
This is the one to have as the Turbo's - lovely though they are - tend to be non stop problems.
Only 59k on the replacement engine.
I bought it relatively cheaply as a good solid car with the sills repaired (They ALL need doing at some point)
The car is a rare 'Turkish blue' colour (one of only a handful in the UK) with a black interior. (FIND ANOTHER!!!!!) ;)
The car has covered 150k miles but a low mileage engine was installed last year with only 59k miles on it.
I wanted to keep the car original for the most part but ended up making a few tweaks like the pascha door cars and Digi Blaupunkt stereo etc.
It runs & drives superbly.

It is not concours and there are still a few tiny jobs to do e. g.:
- Refit the original rear view mirror (supplied)
- Fix the horn (stopped working when the new steering wheel was fitted)
- The wheels could do with a refurb (they're not bad but the perfect paint shows them up)
That's about it.
There's not much history before I bought it but given all the work I've done, that shouldn't be a problem.
Overall the car drives superbly and is a wonderful retro ride.
Also, it has pop up headlights.
x2 keys, original handbook, & V5 etc.
I'm pretty firm on the price so any offers need to be close to the asking price.
I just don't want to waste anybody's time.
Besides, there are plenty of cheap 944's out there... It's the perfect practical retro Porsche.
It's rear wheel drive, has a lusty 3. 0 engine, x4 seats, a decent boot and as I done all the hard work, should be a cheap and easy car to run. It also has pop up headlamps.
