Reluctant sale of my 1982 Lotus Eclat Riviera, part restored, only selling due to moving house and not having the garage space to continue the restoration.
The Riviera was last on the road 32 years ago, it had covered just 70, 000 miles when garaged, no idea why it was taken off the road.
There were only 78 Eclat Riviera models produced making this a very rare car and eminently worthy of a full restoration, circumstances prevent me from continuing so hopefully it will go to a good home that will finish the job.
With labour this car owes me in excess of £16, 000 but I am a realist, I have priced it at a respectable £6, 000 so that it is attractive enough for an enthusiast to take it on, but please note I won’t go any lower so you are welcome to view and give a yes or no, simple as that.
New parts that have gone into the Riviera recently, Gaz adjustable shock absorbers £500, ball joints and bushes £100, Coverdale carpets £350, alcantara headlining £300, custom made blue leather dash £400, head gasket kit and other gaskets £250, base coat paint and lacquer £250, sundry parts £300.
The engine was removed, completely stripped and inspected, found to be in very good order, loosely assembled and refitted to transport car to new owner, engine will need reassembling properly before running, the new owner may wish to fit new bearings at the same time but it will run fine as is.
The front suspension has been rebuilt with new Gaz adjustable shocks, new ball joints and bushes. The rear suspension is untouched so will need rebuilding, new Gaz shocks provided.
The front half of the car has been resprayed in 3 coats of base coat, it will require another coat and then 3 coats of lacquer. The engine bay has been resprayed and finished. The rear half of the car has been prepared for respray, stress cracks have been repaired. 2 litres of base coat will be provided which thinned 50% will be enough for the respray.
