Description

1989 Austin Metro City X 3 door in red. I have only owned this for just over a week it came up for sale locally and when I went to see the car I was blown away by the condition. Its had 6 owners with full details of each and has covered just over 17000 miles since new. It comes with a huge file of previous history including bills, receipts service logs, previous owner details, handbooks. There are two sets of keys both with the original keyfob from the dealer Days in Chelmsford. Also comes with original plates, tax disc holder. The previous owner replaced the old metric wheels for safety reasons a the original tyres were dangerous. Sadly the original wheels were scrapped. The spare is as new in the boot with the tools. The car is otherwise original in every way down to the radio, parcel shelf - everything is as it was in 1989. It has never had any work done to the body and was rust treated with Waxoyl. There are 3 or 4 very small marks on the paint but that's being very critical and they are hard to spot. It starts runs and drives as it should. (I learned to drive in one of these in the 80's so I do know) It has a years MOT with no advisories. The mileage is so low and the condition is so good I am advertising it here as a SWAP because it will be spoilt if I drive it about. It belongs in a museum really or in a collectors warm garage. I have another classic which takes up my garage space and so this is outside - probably for the first time in its life. My insurance company have agreed the value at £7k hence that is the listing price. It struck me driving the car today that I am not going to able to do it justice. I bought it wanting a modern classic to use weekly and this is really far too good. I would be a sin if someone dented or scratched the car. These cars will soon start to disappear unlike more popular cars such as the mini which is a shame - if this was a mini it would cost a fortune. In perspective a recon A series 998cc engine from a mini specialist would be £4200 to £6000 - this has a genuine engine light use with 17k on the clock try and find another.
I am not in a hurry to get rid and I would prefer a SWAP for something interesting. I will be taking it to local shows in the spring. Please contact me if you have something to SWAP.
