For sale a Land Rover 80" Series 1 "Light behind grille" model. This is the first model of the legendary Land Rover 4x4. Introduced in 1948 in it most basic form as no nonsense "Go Anywhere" vehicle. The here presented car is one of this first 80" Series which is the so called "headlights behind the grill" or "full grille" model build upto mid 1950.
The car we offer had a full restoration about 30 years ago and had only very little use since then. It stood for over 20 years and is now fully recommissioned with a light restoration. This included dismantling to rolling chassis; no welding required; everything cleaned; brakes reconditioned; new brake hoses; gearbox rebuilt; engine decoked; valves regrinded; new head gasket; valve stem seals; new seals; new exhaust; Michelin XCL 650x16 tyres; new respray in 2-pack Deep Bronze Green; new hood; new seats + rear benches; new door seals etc.
Very original vehicle and restored to original specification. Original gearbox and axles; original 1, 6ltr engine is replaced with a 2, 0ltr siamese bore (from 1952) during its live. This car is restored to factory correct specification.
Runs and drives very nice. Ready to use. Not many like these available on the European market.
