1966, Salvatore Laddomada buys his first company car. How proud the man must have been when his company name and address were neatly painted on his Fiat 217D 1100T.
Salvatore was a dealer of Ducati, Bianchi and Lambretta and did their buying and selling. And, of course, maintenance.
But how special it is that the Fiat has retained its character all these years. The lettering has completely stood the test of time.
Not only that, but all the paperwork from back then has remained with the car. Purchase receipt, service reports, booklets, everything complete.
How will you use it? Food truck? Or as a cocktail bar at the Beach Club? Or just as an interior piece, because you keep looking at it!
Condition of the car:
Well that's pretty obvious. The well-known “patina” is here to the max. With very simple polish you can get it as good as rust free, but we deliberately didn't do that. Because how great does he look like this!
Driving:
Don't expect too much of that. It's still a 1966 bus. But it is all wonderfully analogue. Shifting gears at the wheel takes some getting used to, but you get the hang of it in no time. Just adjust your mindset and you have a lot of fun with this Italian. We call it “Salvatore” for the time-being.
Take it easy and imagine yourself in the sixties, that's how you drive it. Of course with lots of spectators and thumbs up along the way. Furthermore, it drives, starts and brakes very nicely, you definitely do not feel like a danger on the road! The engine speed is a bit high, but the enthusiast knows how to fix that.
Maintenance:
As mentioned, a lot of history with Salvatore; quite recently the necessary work was done so that you can drive safely.
