1983 Golf Mk1 KR 16v
Body
1. 1c in original Selvas Green (rare) with all standard exterior trim, similar to a GTi, GTi wheel arches, and GTi front spoiler. The only body modification was to change the engine mounting to fit the 16v engine. Shell is very straight and clean, the only welding was a little tidying on the back edge of the rear arches. The car received a complete back to the metal, glass out respray with all dents removed by a dent man to reduce any filler. No sunroof.
Interior
Standard door cards, and carpets, Scirocco mk2 seats, the rear bench received alteration by a professional trimmer to fit the Scirocco foam on to the Golf frame. Mk2 16v dash, centre console and clocks, Wolfsburg 3 spoke steering wheel.
Engine
Standard 1. 8 16v mk2 engine, with early 42mm inlet manifold, Mk2 diesel gearbox (for longer gearing) with larger 100mm diameter drive shafts, standard mk1 GTi brakes, vented 239mm disks and 22mm mk2 16v servo, rear drums are standard GTi, which have had new handbrake cables and shoes, fuel tank is GTi and has return for fuel injection, new filler neck, The oil pick up pipe in the sump was cleaned as they can get clogged. A new timing belt was fitted last year.
Suspension
Eibach lowered springs with Koni dampers and Flowflex poly bushes. All suspension components axle etc powder coated. All ball joints and track rod ends etcetera replaced. Following this a full alignment was carried out.
Exhaust
Ashley four branch manifold, mated to a custom powerflow stainless steel exhaust.
General
Car is now tax and MOT exempt and I have a file with many invoices and old mot's etc. I have owned the car for 14 years and enjoyed taking it to car shows and runs etcetera, but it is now time to let someone else enjoy it.
