Description
Recently recommissioned after a 12 year lay up. A great looking fun car that still looks good and drives well but sadly a back injury has forced the sale.
Very low mileage and one lady owner for the last 30 years.
Full history, pictures and details of all work that has been carried out on the car.
Fully driveable straight away, MOT until October, Tax until November.
Amazing to drive and a real head turner. The only way to enjoy any sunshine and fine days we get.
Would benefit from new brake discs.
Paintwork would benefit from some attention although unless close up the car looks good.
Back screen needs some attention (only noticeable when the roof is up!).
You wont regret the smile this car puts on your face
"The Lotus Elan SE Turbo, part of the M100 series, was a turbocharged sports car known for its handling and relatively fast acceleration . It was a front-wheel drive car with a 1. 6-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine, producing 162 hp. The SE Turbo model offered a more potent engine than the naturally aspirated base model, achieving a 0-60 mph time of 6. 5 seconds and a top speed of 137 mph. "This was my dream car since a child and when I saw it advertised at an affordable price (Category C) my husband to be, who was a car mechanic, suggested he could do the work so I bought it.
He took it away to his friends premises where they worked on it to replace the front clam shell, do a complete respray and recommission it. I finally saw the finished car on my wedding day when he drove it to our reception complete with white bows.
I had 14 happy years driving it but then when I fell pregnant for the second time in 2013 I took it off the road as I could no longer use it for my 2 children. It stayed safe and dry and locked away in my garage for 11 years. Last year I finally had the funds available to recommission it so asked my now ex husband if he would help. He worked with a colleague of his to complete the work and I had it back at the end of last year.
The car is amazing to drive, a real head turner, lovely to cruise around at moderate speeds and the power when you need it from the Isuzu engine combined with the light fibre glass body is immense.
The sad part is that I'm 30+ years older than I was when I had the car and after recent spinal surgery I just find it too punishing on my back to drive now.
Its with a heavy heart that I've decided to sell but the car deserves to continue to drive and I'd love it to go to someone who can carry on enjoying it
