Description
An absolutely gorgeous 1970 Triumph Bonneville, arguably the most desirable year made.
This bike was in a poor state when I bought it, although the mileage is probably correct as there was little wear on the moving parts. The bike was stripped and the frame and all black parts blasted and powder coated. All the screws, nuts and bolts were cleaned and replated as there was no sign of being undone before and where possible refitted. A new wiring loom was installed as the frame was built up along with new rear shock absorbers, fork seals etc., new handle bars levers and cables were fitted. The wheels were surprisingly in superb order, so just new tyres and inner tubes were fitted. A lot of new chrome parts were fitted including headlamp shell etc. but many such as the mudguard hoops were replated.
The tank and mudguards were repainted in the correct original colour which was of a very high standard.
You will note the instruments are the original Smiths not Indian imports that look so wrong.
Despite the suspected low mileage the engine was seized through lack of use,( nearly fifty years of standing.) New standard barrels and pistons were fitted and the engine stripped and where necessary new shells etc. were fitted. Engine side covers were professionally polished and all reassembled. The carburettors stripped, sonically cleaned and reassembled again using new parts as necessary. The bike was fitted with new down pipes and silencers and a new seat. It has been ridden for about two miles just to test it.
Whilst I have tried to describe this bike as honestly as I can, viewing is recommended but please ask any questions.
I am selling this bike reluctantly as I need the space. I have had the bike checked over by a specialist, he commented that you would have to go a long way to find another one this nice and even then you might not be lucky.
