Description
One Owner - 2005 RenaultSport Clio 182 Trophy - 92654 miles - Sutton-in-Ashfield
Here we have my Clio Trophy which I have owned from new.
When I went to pick up this car from Rotherham's Reg Vardy Renault dealership in 2005, little did I know that 20 years later I would still own him, and I'll be honest, I dont really want to get rid of him! But life brings kids and dogs etc and a need for family cars. So I'm now ready to let him fly the nest to his next owner.
Don't be put off by the mileage, this car has been cherished since new and drives and looks like new. Its worth noting that 99% of the mileage was done commuting, either up the M1 to Sheff in the early years or later on, the A38 to Derby. And thats why I decided to SORN him from circa 2017, as I was not enjoying him like he should be enjoyed, and I was just putting miles on the car. Since 2017 he's done about 600 miles. The car has spent the vast majority of its life garaged, and being SORN, just enjoys the occasional trip around the estate to keep things working correctly. He currently has an MOT until Aug 2025.
I'm confident that the first person to inspect this car will want to buy him. If you are looking for a well cared for, unmodified original Trophy, read on and check out the photos. Theres a lot of Trophy's now showing they're age or having numerous modifications, this being an honest exception.
This car is in showroom condition and I have made a lot of effort to keep him as original as possible. The condition is largely down to him receiving when new, a good coat of cavity wax and fitment of 3M protective strips around the wheelarches. These have been removed for the photos.
Obviously, as any owner of a classic car knows, it is not always possible to keep the car OEM and so here are the differences from new:
1) Original Michelin Pilot Exalto 2's are not available so he now has the correct 'Extra Load' rated replacement Michelin PilotSport3 205/ 45 ZR 16 87W tyres.
2) Stonechip caused windscreen crack that needed replacement.
3) Steering wheel tastefully retrimmed by a guy that works for Bentley (all Clio Sports are prone over time to the steering wheel coating 'melting').
4) Fitment of BTM stainless exhaust (the best sounding 182 exhaust that has a respectable noise level).
5) Front Reg Plate became cracked from stonechip so I replaced front and back (sorry I think I have OCD or something :-))
Also worthy of note is that the front dampers have been refurbished by official Sachs overhauler, BG motorsport in 2015 (71k miles) including new rods and powder coat.
Condition wise, he's pretty mint to be honest. I set about selling him last August and over the winter have done numerous things detailed below.
The only negatives to the car are that there's a very small crack in the nearside lower part of the bumper where a rabbit decided to commit suicide one day, and there's also a small crack in the splitter, due to catching a high kerb. Neither are noticeable unless you are on your knees looking for them. Furthermore, both are an easy fix for a 'Detailer' should it bother you.
Note that other than an affinity for rabbits, the car has not been in any accidents and is still on original paint, including the wheels as these are still good enough to not warrant a respray yet.
Note that the last three photos are after his first wash in 2005.
