This very rare Lotus Elan is one of a limited number of cars and were only in production for a few years, badged black to commemorate the tragic death of Colin Chapman racing driver and very good friend Jim Clarke. Colin Chapman was killed in a tragic accident at Hockenheim in April 1968 driving a Lotus Type 48.
These cars had Black Badges and a Steering Wheel bearing Colin Chapmans signature.
This one owner car has only covered 52, 000 miles. In the last 19 years it has only covered 156 mile as its previous owner took it for its mot every year up until 2022. It then went in to storage. The car is also supplied with black hard top and lots of spare parts that were removed or replaced when it was restored by its previous owner
This rare Lotus has undergone a complete body off restoration
and has been Fully restored to its former glory including:
- Engine rebuild.
- New clutch.
- Brakes rebuilt.
- Bare shell repainted in red.
- Refurbished wheels new tyres.
- Suspension stripped and rebuilt.
