This striking Lotus Elan +2 S130, 4 speed gearbox, in jet black paint, has been my daily driver for a couple of years, she has had a recent MOT test, valid until 1st August 2026; ULEZ exempt, the road tax is £0. 00 per year, low priced classic car insurance. It's a lovely car to drive and earns a great deal of respect from other road users on a daily basis. The reason for sale? I have two Lotus Elans and I've decided to keep the older one, so with a certain regret I'm moving this one on to her next custodian.
Recently she's had clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder replaced, new master brake cylinder, adjustable thermostatic cooling fan controller, starter motor, alternator, starter solenoid. The dual twin choke Dellorto carburetors have been taken apart, cleaned inside and out (vapor blasted) fully serviced with all new parts, modern type sealed bearings fitted to shafts, all new gaskets, calibrated and balanced etc. New distributor cap, leads, plugs, rotor arm, engine temperature sender. New track rod ends (MOT required just this to pass) tracking has been adjusted. She really wants to go in all gears. It's the 130S type, big valve engine (once breathed upon by Vegantune, a British Company that once tuned and modified Lotus twin cam engines) there is an inscription under the valve cover to this effect. It goes well and handles beautifully as to be expected from any Elan that's been well looked after. There is electronic ignition fitted (the optical chopper type inside distributor cap); an engine compression test was recently conducted and produced very good results, as follows: Cylinder 1 (200 psi), 2 (200 psi), 3 (208 psi), 4 (195 psi) see photos attached.
She's generally in very good condition body wise, and interior too, intact seats, bright varnished walnut dash etc. instruments all working. Paint is good, wear is generally commensurate with the age of the vehicle, but I believe it had a fairly recent respray.
I bought from a private seller 2 years ago (approx) I'm happy to show the car and test drive to any serious potential buyers keen enough to come and see her.
