Description
This red Volvo P1800E was first registered on 27th May 1971. It is powered by a 2 litre 4-cylinder electronic fuel injected engine – claimed performance was 130bhp and 118mph with a 0-60mph of 9. 3 seconds. The vehicle is effectively 5 speed (4 speed gearbox plus overdrive).
The vehicle pulls strongly and has no problem keeping up with modern traffic. It’s a good looking car which always attracts favourable comments yet is quite modern to drive – it’s comfortable, reasonably quiet to drive long distances, heating, demisting and lighting are all very good - whilst at the same time amply demonstrating Volvo’s legendary reputation for reliability.
The vehicle was purchased in 2020 and since then has been used for historic rallying. It has had numerous improvements over the last few years and represents an opportunity for someone to acquire a fully sorted rally car to use immediately. Alternatively, as none of the changes affect the vehicle fundamentals, it could easily be reverted to original specification.
Over £20k has been spent on the vehicle, particularly on addressing rust issues so that the vehicle can continue to give sterling service for many years to come.
