1933 Lagonda 2 litre. The last 2 litre low chassis built on special commission for first owner Mr. Horace Hill. Mr. Hill ordered the car in 1931 at his request the car was fitted with the earlier four cylinder twin cam engine instead of the crossly push rod engine. Club registrar letter from 1976(on file) confirms ALP695 to be a special commission for Mr Horace to be fitted with a one off body which could explain the car first being registered in 1933. The car has been in the possession of various club members since 1948. The previous owner bought ALP695 in 2015 and set out to get the car in fine fettle again using the services of some of the best Lagonda names, Charles Gray, David Ayre and Richard Jones…
The work (bills on file) totalled an amount of 38650£. The work included fitting a downdraught cylinder head and new carburettors for increased power, new wiring loom, new wings, new shock absorbers, resetting and hardening the leaf springs, magneto rebuilt… A lot of attention was spent on chassis set up, the result is a very light and nimble handling Lagonda. In 2023 the car was imported to mainland Europe and registered in Belgium, a light recommission started with main focus on tidying up some details and getting the setup correct. Enjoying it on many rallies.
The result is a wonderful driving an reliable 2 litre Lagonda. Which has a fascinating history, stunning patinated interior and marvellously looking sporty one off body.
