It is with a very heavy heart that I'm selling my treasured Mazda MX-5 MK1 Monaco.
The car is in very good condition and a rare LTD edition Monaco. I believe only 450 were made between May 1996 and Jan 1997, of those 91 are now registered. In 2017, the Mazda MX-5 owners club identified this model as number 2 in the top six rarest mx5 models produced.
The car is solid, with no rust on the sills, chassis, chassis rails, wings etc.
It is fitted with a lovely mohair hood which in my eyes suits the cars black interior well.
Mx5 enthusiasts will have noticed that the steering wheel isn't standard, however the original will be returned to the car on sale to retain originality.
Prior and during my ownership, it has been garaged and has only been used on sunny days. Sadly, with having a number of classic cars, the Monaco is simply not being used enough and it's a shame to leave it in the garage.
The little car drives wonderfully, with no issues at all. Everything on it works as it should and many parts still have their original stickers on them. Two keys, one with the monaco keyfob still.
The car has been regularly serviced, has had a cambelt, water pump, new discs and pads all round, fresh brake fluid. It starts on the turn of the key each and every time.
The interior is immaculate as are the parts you can't see like the rear drain holes... Which have regularly been checked and cleaned. The boot floor etc looks like new with even the nuts and bolts still showing zinc plating and being rust free.
The car is 29 years old and is totally straight with no damage, it does have some small dents that could easily be removed by a dent removal technician, they have never bothered me given it's an original little car. For very little work, this could be presented at shows due to its rarity, condition and originality - it's what made me fall in love with it in the first place.
I've been out in her today with the top down in the sun and couldn't remove the smile from my face. It's a wonderful little car that attracts so much attention.
This is a lovely little car and I'll be very sad to see her go, but she needs to go somewhere where she will be loved, treasured... And used!!!
