I've decided to sell my 1978 Morris Mini, fully restored in the last 10 years, but now requires some TLC. Runs and drives well, running a Cooper S engine with twin SU carbs. Sounds and goes well! Just had a new battery and electronic ignition fitted this week.
The Mini has had countless hours and money spent on it, and now needs a bit more time invested to make it stunning again. I've tried to highlight all of the imperfections on the photos, but please just ask if there's any areas you want to see. It's certainly still a useable classic, and despite the cracks on the kit - it's still solid.
The body kit is called a 'minicos' kit (based off a Cosworth) and it was taken off during the last restoration to resolve/ prevent any rust. You can still see the original arches under the kit, and they all look superb - it certainly isn't a rot box. It's a fibreglass kit, including the bonnet, which is inspired by a new generation Cooper S - with the hood scoop. The colour is BMW Alpine White (car was originally red). There are also pop-out doors, which all work as they should off the fob.
Clearly the bodywork needs work, but it's a running project - the engine really does sound superb, and runs really well. I would advise checking the brakes though, as the pedal as quite a bit of travel, so they need some attention.
The car is currently MOT exempt, taxed (you can apply to get it tax exempt) and insured by me. If the car doesn't sell this time around, I'll likely keep it as my project for the summer - but having two small kids, my time is very limited!
The car comes with absolutely stacks of paperwork. V5 present.
