Description
The Alvis has had 3 owners, the first a Doctor who bought the car new in 1940 in Sheffield, his family sold the car in 1975. Between 1976 and 1979 the second owner gave the Alvis a full restoration including an engine rebuild. He kept the car until 1990, when I bought it from him. I have now owned the car 35 years.
There is a comprehensive file of the works carried out on the car.
During my ownership the following has been carried out , new front wings and running boards 1999, major service by Red Triangle in 2015, to include cylinder head repair, block skimmed, pressure tested, new valves and guides, new head studs, new wipers, distributor rebuild and greased all round. The car driven 3, 250 miles since these works.
The radiator has been repaired 2015 and new hoses fitted 2023, stainless steel exhaust 2003, new spare tyre 2019, 4 x new road tyres 2021, new distributor cap 2023, brake service 2021, new 2 x 6 volt batteries 2025. MOT exempt.
I believe the interior to be original and it is showing its age.
There is no drop in the 4 opening doors and the sunroof opens.
The body is showing signs of it age, please study the photos.
It would equally be a good daily driver or weekend event car. I bought the Alvis because I wanted a car to compete in VSCC events and although 1940 it is VSCC acceptable and has a Buff form.
A saloon was my preferred body option, especially as I have done the VSCC Measham rally with it several times, also day rallies and tours.
The file contains the Original green log book, the brown continuation log book and the current V5c that is in my name.
The car has been a joy and I take it out all year round, provided there is no salt on the roads.
It runs very well and pulls strongly.
