Description
Reluctant sale of my Rover 620. Bought as a bit of a nostalgia trip as both my dad & grandad had one when I was growing up, plus I love retro Hondas and that's basically what this is. I've spent lots of money on it intending to keep it long-term, but we're moving house with limited parking and can't keep everything.
Over £1, 000 spent earlier this year (see invoices). It had a major service where all the fluids, filters and plugs were replaced, along with the cam cover gasket as it was getting a little leaky. It had several bits to get it through its MOT, including a steering rack that I had to source from a Rover parts specialist. It also had an entire new exhaust system front to back, because some shitheads helped themselves to the catalytic converter. That all nearly bankrupted me, but it means it's in tip top mechanical shape with a long & advisory-free MOT until April 2026.
Lots more stamps and receipts for all the work done under previous owners, including welding and suspension work.
There's a new radiator in the boot, which I haven't fitted as a bit of radweld seemed to cure the leak it developed. There's also a new air con condenser as it only blows cold-ish air at best. I'll aim to fit both before it goes to its new owner so it's fixed long-term.
Four very good tyres with >5mm of tread, all less than 2 years old. Bridgestones on the front. Goodyear spare (I think the original).
Discs and pads are all good, with very recent pads on the rear.
Automatic gearbox does its thing with no issues, with a few fluid changes in the history folder.
In a lovely teal colour (cayman blue) that came up a treat after a good polish, with no lacquer peel or sun damage. There are still imperfections, particularly around the rear bumper, but nothing you wouldn't expect of a 27 year old car. Has a bit of surface rust in the usual 600 places around the edge of the rear wings, but nothing structural to concern the MOT man.
The interior is nice and original, with a working Rover radio / cassette. The driver's side window regulator has been replaced (a common foible on these). I DIY'ed the sagging headliner with a staple gun, which is a functional albeit unprofessional fix. The speedo is also very temperamental (it works 10-20% of the time).
No warning lights on the dash. The usual ABS / airbag gremlins have been sorted.
Overall a very well sorted and solid example, with only a few minor issues—mostly cosmetic—that are consistent with its age.
Viewings & test drives welcome with proof of insurance.
