Description
1971 Porsche 911 E Coupe
I have owned this car since 2008, buying privately from the previous owner who acquired it in 2001 (I'm the 7th keeper). The history file for the car starts in 1998 and describes:
Body and engine restorations carried out by Dakota Classics
Suspension restoration by GCR Central in Leicester
Seat restoration (replacing the centre cord sections in the front seats) by Garry at Classic FX
Miscellaneous maintenance and repairs (for example new fuel lines)
The car comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
The car is regularly maintained by GCR with an annual check (it's MOT exempt)
The car is kept in a dehumidified garage and only driven on dry days. It does have some stone chips on the bonnet and slight scuff marks on the sunroof. There is a very minor oil drip from the RH cam cover.
It comes with a car cover that I have never used.
Early air-cooled 911s are the full package. Dynamically, they are great fun to drive and the flat six engine sounds great whether you are inside our outside!
Chris at GCR describes this car as an 'honest' one. It's not to Concours standard (no radio antennae, missing chrome embellishments on the sills and wheel arches) but it is tremendous fun to drive. I'm selling because I have recently retired and want a project to keep me busy. The car was found lurking in the back of an Alfa specialist's garage by the previous owner, who bought it and drove it for a while before undertaking a major body and engine restoration at Dakota Classics about 10, 000 miles ago, just before I bought the car in 2008.
In my ownership the car has been looked after by GCR Central in Leicester, where issues have been managed as they arose. The "major" item that has been completed in my ownership has been the suspension refurbishment.
I have covered just under 10, 000 miles in the 16 years I have owned the car.
