Description

Uniqueness of the specimen:

• Exceptional condition
• Rare Burgundy-colour configuration
• 2. 2 Targa with a 170 horsepower tune
• Original mileage

This Porsche 911 Targa 2. 2 was first registered in 1971. It has passed through four owners, the last of whom kept it for nine years. Its current mileage stands at 145, 000 km.

This example stands out for its rare original Burgundy finish, which was repainted and polished about ten years ago, while preserving its original colour. All seals were replaced at that time. The bodywork is immaculate, with no trace of corrosion.

The interior is fully original, with preserved black seats and cabin. Only the carpets have been replaced to refresh the look. The onboard instruments are fully functional.

Mechanically, this Porsche is simply impeccable. Its 2. 2-litre flat-six engine is tuned to deliver 170 horsepower and runs perfectly. It has always been serviced by Porsche specialists, and its history is complete, including all invoices since new and a meticulously kept record book maintained by each owner.

A mechanical check-up has been carried out for the sale. Consumables are in excellent condition, and no costs are expected.

Model history summary:

The Porsche 911 Targa was born in 1967, in response to regulatory challenges in the United States. At the time, safety standards threatened convertibles, prompting Porsche to design a model with a fixed stainless steel rollover bar. This innovative concept, named "Targa" in honour of the Targa Florio, the iconic race where Porsche had triumphed, offered a compromise between coupe and cabriolet. It was equipped with a removable hardtop and, initially, a removable plastic rear window, later replaced by a glass version.

The 911 Targa retains the fundamental characteristics of the 911, such as the rear-mounted flat-six engine. Early versions were powered by a 2. 0-litre engine developing between 110 and 160 horsepower depending on the variant. It combined a 2+2 layout and Porsche’s characteristic suspension, delivering precise handling despite the rear-engine layout.

The Targa quickly established itself as an icon, distinguished by its unique style and its ties to the world of competition. Even today, the Targa version remains a cornerstone of the 911 range, embodying Porsche’s innovation and heritage for more than five decades.
