This car, is going to be considered “Niche” to the majority of potential buyers. Probably aimed more towards City Dwellers, who want a retro toy, that can be used freely on the city streets!
It is probably a one off, and is a 1986 Toyota MR2 Mk1 that has been fully converted to Electric!!
Yes, you just read that right… a very extensive and expensive conversion, was applied to this vehicle, in 2023, that has brought a retro class, into modern life… at the cost of over £30k!
Now the time to press the back button if you are wanting the petrol version lol!!
The car itself is in lovely condition, it’s been refurbished and kept completely original, apart from the running gear.
Super shiny Red paint, no rust at all, 113k miles on the car, 4x matching new Toyo tyres, all the lights work… a real gem to look at and admire!
The interior is also in excellent condition, no wearing to the seats, carpets etc… everything works again and it is the sunroof model, with electric windows and mirrors.
Mechanically, well, it underwent surgery in 2023, having the 1. 6 motor removed and a full Relik electric kit installed professionally, by a company in Kent. All receipted and along with the refurb of the whole car, would have cost over £30k!
Clearly no expense was spared on this one, bringing the car into a useable, modern day format!
Why? Well… I’ve no idea, too much time and money to hand, by the former keeper. But in a strange way, a credit to them for having that vision and doing it to a high standard.
It’s fun to drive, still feels like an MR2 because the balance of motor and batteries has been spread equally, to maintain weight… pretty quick between 30-70mph, having a range of 80-100 miles and a type-2 charging port for public or home charging! Be prepared to have a lot of curious chats with passers by when they see it publicly charging!
The car comes complete with a brand new 3-pin home charger, plus the public charging cable.
Service history has more or less been lost, not that it’s really relevant now with the conversion, but the car is clean and clear of negatives, great for city driving or even the country lanes… everything is tight and solid on it, and apart from a small door ding on the drivers door, and perhaps the roof needing a polish, it’s in fantastic shape!
Fully registered with DVLA as electric, road tax is £220 per year vs £360 for petrol… ready to go and be enjoyed!
