MOT valid until 28. 11. 2025 - One advisory on last MOT, for slight corrosion on the o/ s/ r sill. This has now been fully repaired to a high standard. All other sills, wheel arches, and front chassis rails (all common weak points on these cars) are solid and in good condition.
This is a cherished low-mileage example of Mazda’s iconic MX-5 sports car. Mazda produced only 500 cars for the Montana Special Edition – 250 in Garnet Red (this car’s colour) and 250 in British (Mazda) Racing Green. This is becoming an increasingly rare and sought after special edition now.
I have owned this beautiful little sports car since April 2022, when I bought it from Goodwood Sportscars, a well-known MX-5 specialist in Berwick-upon-Tweed. Since then I have maintained it regardless of cost, with annual services and wheel alignment checks. I have also carried out some upgrades to the exhaust system and HT leads. All servicing and maintenance / fitting work during my ownership has been carried out by MX-5 Heaven in Charminster, near Dorchester in Dorset. Most recently serviced by them on 10th April 2025 (70, 570 miles). The car never needs a drop of oil or coolant in between services. I have also had some bodywork done by King Bros. in Pimperne, Dorset. The car comes with a comprehensive history file, with receipts for all servicing and other work done during my ownership, as well as MOT documents, and documents from previous owners. Always garaged by me, and I have never driven the car on very wet or salted roads. I have always used Premium Unleaded fuel in the car.

• Magnecor Electrosports 80 8mm Ignition Lead set (from MX-5 Parts) – fitted on 14. 3. 2023 (67, 841 miles).
• Original Mazda fog lights (from MX-5 Parts) – fitted on 19. 6. 2023.
• Gravity Performance stainless steel cat-back exhaust system – fitted on 14. 3. 2023 (67, 841 miles).
• K&N panel type air filter element (serviceable) – fitted on 23. 4. 2022 (65, 930 miles).
• Brake pipes checked (and replaced where necessary) and brake fluid change on 14. 3. 2023 (67, 841 miles).
• The car does have an air-conditioning unit, but this is currently not working – needs new condenser and feed pipe. This is an exceptionally nice looking little roadster, which drives and handles as well as a properly set up Mazda MX-5 Mk. 2. 5 / NBFL should. The perfect 50:50 weight distribution, agile chassis and responsive engine means that it is a delight to drive on fast roads with lots of curves and corners, especially with the Sun shining, and the top down. The car is also very happy cruising on motorways, and has no problem keeping up with more modern cars. The gear-change, as with all MX-5s of this generation, is exceptionally smooth. The interior is, in my opinion, the nicest of all of the many MX-5 Mk. 2. 5 / NBFL special editions, and it is a very comfortable and pleasant place to be sat in. I am very sad to be selling "Ruby", but I have 3 other cars, and lack of space to keep them now forces the sale. I would be delighted if this beautiful little car goes to a new owner who will appreciate it and care for it as much as I have done during my 3 years of ownership.
