Description
MGB ROADSTER BUILT 14-02 1978
In good usable condition .
Gear Box -
recently rebuilt gear box and over drive – changes very well- over drive faultless- very solid, no play
Steering-
Overhauled - solid- (no play)
New discs- only done about 1000 miles, showing light rust due to lack of use (summer months only) .
Wheels + Tyres
Firestone F 580 all round excellent- the wheels were powder coated some time back, and showing a few marks, the spare wheel / tyre is very good
Brakes- excellent- has new pads and copper pipe fitted throughout- recent flexibles
Handbrake - best I have ever known, locks wheels up solid
Serviced – gear box / engine/ differential etc
Chassis
very solid – castle rails new professionally fitted -all inner wings welded – the welding is excellent as can be seen in the pictures – to do both castle rails- you have to fully open both ends of the car and make the box section, as can be seen here – Where possible, I have painted the underneath with preserving oil and grease / waxoil to chassis – rails – welds and brake pipes again seen in pics-
Engine
very strong and fast- sounds like an MGB should- It ROARS- cylinder
head done / gaskets– overhauled - valves – timing- tuned -etc
Engine Bay- please see the pictures, they speak for themselves- Excellent
Carburetors- SU Single down drafts- recondition set fitted last year and balanced- needles and jets done.
Exhaust – New Stainless Steel exhaust throughout
Radiator – New last year, as well as flexible pipes and thermostat (please see pictures)
Bodywork,- a bit shaded, due to new wings etc, the car is very solid and straight- if I was keeping it, I would respray as the panels are shaded - I have included pictures of the inner doors etc, showing they have been dynatrolled and waxoiled throughout.
Electrics -New Lucas head lamps and New uprated generator (see pics)
Windscreen- New windscreen (Loss spares) fitted
Side Window - frame cracked,- could do with another- but solid enough- not loose.
Soft top-(Mohair) Good condition, but not new-
Externally- all the body panels are in good / solid condition, line up very well- but have marks due to age etc- I have tried to show this in my pictures as so many others I’ve seen, have either been crashed, or generally have poor workmanship.
Interior
clean and tidy, just had the dash done in faux walnut- the steering wheel has been leather wrapped- gives a nice feel
Seats, weren’t too good, could do with redoing, but have the faux leather over them made for MGB.
History
I have lots of History with the car- old MOTs and Receipts etc for all the work above and more, and I am ex member of the MGB Car Club
General remarks
If you want a car that you can drive anywhere, this is the car for you,( I drove it through France a few years ago)
I have built and maintained this car to drive, not to show, and drive it does excellent- there are a few odd marks here and there around the bodywork also a little shading as mentioned due to new panels etc with some ‘touch up’ here and there, that said, I would still class the body work as good, its straight and solid.
Being a member of various other car clubs,(also ex MGB Car Club) I like my classics to be driven but if you want pristine, it wouldn't be for you, as it would maybe need a respray, and maybe another top – but if you want an excellent reliable car to drive, fun for summer that's reliable well looked after that looks good,, this is the car for you.
the car is MOT and Tax Free as 40 year rule applies
I travel abroad quite often, so could deliver if agreeable.
Any queries please ask. this is a drivers car, it drives great as all the essential work as the should especially the new over drive, it doesn't look the best, but would be hard to beat fro driving and relaibitly
