MGB Roadster 1974 Oselli 1950cc engine
Here we have a 1974 MGB Roadster in red with sebring body and powered by an Oselli stage two fully ported & flowed Cylinder head, Weber Carburetor with K&N filter.
I've owned the car for two years, and purchased it in its current spec however I spent £2, 500 a year ago in some mechanical recommissioning which included renewing plugs, points, tuning, brake and clutch master cylinders, clutch slave cylinder, renewal of hub seals, brake pipes, new GAZ rear shocks and essentially completely going through the car by Classic MG Services in Hampshire. As a result - the car is a joy to get in, start and drives absolutely on the money. I wouldn't hesitate doing a 4 hour trip touring Wales in this.
I am only selling as I've recently acquired a restomod MGB GT, with a modern Mazda engine, and is now I bid a bittersweet farewell to a car I've thoroughly enjoyed driving in the sunshine.
I have a thick history file showing receipts for work and parts including wiring loom, mohair hood, exhaust etc... Also had a no advisory MOT until 2024 which has now elapsed as I haven't seen the need to renew. Will happily do so if buyer insists, but is not required of course. History also shows previous sprint race entries at Oulton park with results showing timings in the 90s. Original badges for race events are still on dash.
The real draw to this car for me was the engine. The Oselli engine with Weber carb is just so sweet to drive, pulls so well and a big improvement on stock. Overdrive in 3rd and 4th fully working. The sound is just a delight. On a sunny day, I often find myself in this over my 911 turbo.
I've included plenty of photos and a video can be sent on request. Car presents very well for an older restoration, paint is still bright and flat. I would estimate restoration was 10-15 years although I can't be sure. Looking at the panels they are free of rust, and completely solid in footwells and boot, although photos will show some surface rust. There are some age and signs of use to the body. Scratch on nearside rear panel, small crack line on nearside near wheel arch (see photos). Underside seems to be rust-free and clean. It has always been garage stored and only driven on dry days. Some chips to paint on front end... It will not win a concourse, but coupled with the decals it has some racing character...
Wheels are in great condition and tyres were replaced in 2023 with plenty of tread.
Overall a car that needs nothing done to it this season and can be enjoyed roaring down country lanes as it was intended and indeed I've enjoyed doing with it!
Car is in Sonning Berkshire and can be viewed and driven (as passenger ride only). A sebring spec MGB roaster in red with Oselli 1950cc engine and Weber carbs that drives flawlessly and sounds amazing. What's not to love!
