I’ve owned this MK2 16V for the last 13 years and has a total of 5 owners. It has been part of my private Golf collection (Supercar Detailing) and having owned 10 Mk2’s over the last 30 years.
First registered on 01/ 08/ 91 on J reg making it a run out model and was supplied new by Maryan & Brading in Southend. I’ve even gone to the trouble to replicate Original dealer number plates, tax disc holder and rear window sticker. It comes with 3 sets of keys, one of them being NOS keys which has never been used.
Comes with a huge history file, lots of old MOT’s and 100’s of invoices for parts and work carried out. Service wallet with all books present with 24 service stamps. Vw history up until 1998 then a combination of specialists. Service and Cambelt was carried out last September and hasn’t covered any miles since. It’s currently on 100k and you can see from the MOT history it hasn’t really done a lot of miles in the time I’ve owned it.
Over the last 13 years I have gone through the whole car, including full machanical overhaul. Complete engine and gearbox rebuild, with less than a 1000 miles since rebuild in 2016. The engine made 139 BHP on the rollers once the running in process was complete. Lots of NOS parts have been sourced.
The underside has had new jacking points replaced and any corrosion was rectified methodically, went through great time and expense to make them look as they did from factory. The rear was beam removed and powder coated. Fuel pump housing stripped and rebuilt, with NOS fuel tank straps.
This work was carried out in November 2022. Stainless steel rear box which is an exact copy of the original. New brakes and flexi hoses, NOS backing plates and refurbished calipers in the correct Zinc colour. Has new Sachs front and rear shock absorbers with Eibach 25mm lowering springs.

The interior is in amazing condition, headlining in good condition with no sagging. Has the original hazard warning triangle with the first aid kit, Jack and space saver in perfect condition. It still has its original Blaupunkt Melbourne SQR 39 radio with instruction manual in an envelope in with the service wallet.
The bodywork is in great condition, it came second at Stanford Hall concours event in 2022.
