Description
It is with a heavy heart that I’m selling Doris, a legend in her own lifetime. Together we have three times competed on Rally Monte Carlo Historique, the last time in 2024, where we finished oldest car and 170th out of 240 entries. Doris also competed in the NewBarn and then the Fassi Speed Hillclimb Championships, winning her class on several occasions. Last time out was May 2025. I cannot list everything replaced or renewed on the car but the list includes, full size alloy replacement fuel tank, duo fuel pumps, new metal pipes. Custom made stainless exhaust. Heavy duty shock absorbers. Brand new alternator, electronic ignition (with all original parts retained. Battery. The preselector gearbox was thoroughly cleaned and adjusted in 2024. Rear differential with higher ratio, seals and bearing replaced, giving better cruising at lower revs. New wheel bearings. The list goes on. All servicing and repairs carried out by Daniel Hunter at Whitsun Motorsport. I have complete history with old log book and enough invoices to fill the Bodleian Library. Doris even as her own following via my bi monthly column in Octane Magazine. You may be surprised to know that Daimler raced Conquest cars in period with much success, with class wins at Silverstone, and the same on the Monte Carlo Rally. Doris has no corrosion and the interior is a very nice place to be, the headlining is perfect as are the carpets, even the replacement quartz clock blends in and works. The paintwork is best described as passable. Also well known in the Daimler and Lanchester Owners Club Doris has been on many events, including a tour of Ireland. I have no idea as to its true value but desperately want whoever buys her to keep the legend alive.
