Reluctantly selling my much loved and extremely well pampered and documented Mulsanne S.

The Mulsanne S was launched in 1987. It sat in the Bentley range of ‘SZ’ cars between the ‘entry level’ Bentley Eight, and the Turbo R. Although this model lacked its turbocharger, many of its other details were similar to the Turbo R, including that car's alloy wheels and interior, and the suspension was firmed up for a more ‘sporting’ ride. It’s basically a posh spec Bentley Eight, or a Turbo R minus the turbo, depending on how you look at it! It’s basically the same car as the Rolls Royce Silver Spirit in everything bar trim and suspension differences. It uses the fuel injected version of the L Series 6750cc V8 that spanned use between 1959 and 2020!
It’s likely at some point that this car had its original rectangular headlamps from the 1980s replaced with the quad round units that were available from 1989 onwards. The S model was produced until 1992.
Supplied new via Murray Motor Company of Musselburgh for a price of £61659. 78 to Duncan Coulthard, father of F1 legend, David Coulthard!

The car comes with a £300 waterproof high quality car cover, 2 keys, remote alarm, working cassette player and 2 sets of extremely expensive dark blue original lambswool mats. It currently has it's age correct plate of E464 ERR having originally been sold with the private plate in some of the photos. This is an extremely rare colour of an already rare car. Approx 30 left taxed on the road, and I haven't seen another in College Blue Metallic.
I bought this car last summer privately from a Bentley collector in his 90's, who had 4 other Bentley's to tend to. I was shocked by the amount of paperwork that came with it, including the full build sheets form the factory, order form, plus paperwork for 35 years maintenance and 2 stamped service books!

The car has been featured by well known YouTuber - Jack from Number 27 during my stewardship (just enter Bentley Mulsanne S into You Tube to see the film), and has had the following recent work done courtesy of RR & Bentley specialists (Colbrook R&B based near Peterborough):

30/ 8/ 24 - Various small jobs, A/ C Pump Belt, Brake Pad Shims & Brake Clean Up, Service & MOT - £1007. 96
17/ 10/ 23 - Various paintwork and rust treatment + Service - £1500
16/ 11/ 22 - Service & Diff Oil - £766. 36

Plus many receipts for earlier work.

In terms of faults, mechanically there are none. The car drives serenely, and even the climate control blows cold and works perfectly.

Cosmetically there are a few paint blemishes, most notable being some stone chips on the bonnet and front end. Colbrook R&B's paint guy quoted me £1200 for a front end blend and respray.

Feel free to pay more for a lower mileage car that's sat and will develop problems once pushed into use again, or buy one from current and previous owners who have both used and cherished it, and only used specialists to maintain it. These cars need to be used, and I have done over 1500 miles in mine this past year in dry weather and salt free roads only. If you are considering a Turbo R, but know you don't need the extra performance (that doesn't really suit the car, you'll get a far better S for this price than a Turbo R, that's most likely lived a harder life!
