The Bentley Mulsanne was the Crewe-based firm’s flagship model between 2010 and 2020. It was designed to appeal to those looking for the ultimate in refined transport, regardless of how much it cost, and that was reflected in a £250, 000+price when new. There was just one engine and one gearbox offered – the classic 6750cc Rolls-Royce-designed L-Series engine with updates and an eight-speed automatic – which were perfectly suited to the task in hand. The Mulsanne’s characteristic is a deep muffled V8 burble very different from the W12. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox that comes complete with wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
