Lynx Engineering was a collaboration between CKL Developments founder Chris Keith-Lucas, Weslake engineer Guy Black and architect Roger Ludgate.
Operating in East Sussex as a repair and restoration shop for original Jaguar C- and D-types, in 1972, they began developing their own D-type replica with hand-formed aluminum bodywork and monocoque housing modified E-type engine, gearbox, subframe and independent rear suspension. Like Jaguar, Lynx offered both short and long-nose D-type bodywork. They were built to exacting standards and quickly won a reputation for being wonderful to drive, becoming highly admired and collectable.
These were serious cars and in 1987 a Lynx D-type took several UK endurance speed records, five of which still stand. Lynx built around 53 examples, including nine in road “XKSS” form.
OXK 243 is a road-legal short-nose recreation in British Racing Green, built by Lynx in 1989. It has a lovely patinated Suede Green leather interior, a tuned 3. 8-liter XK inline-six with triple Weber carburetors, a four-speed manual gearbox, dual-circuit four-wheel disc brakes, independent suspension, Dunlop-style aluminum peg-drive wheels, a tail fin, an aluminum tonneau cover, and four-point harnesses.
CKL Developments of Battle have looked after this car for twenty-five years, carrying out servicing and light maintenance. It is being sold on behalf of its original owner, who has owned and loved it for over 35 years.
It has been recently inspected and serviced, including new front discs, engine stabiliser bushes, new fuel lines and a clean-up. OKD 243 is now ready for its next owner to enjoy.
