The Lotus Esprit is an icon of British automotive design, immortalised by the James Bond franchise, starring prominently in two films.
This galvanised chassis model Lotus Esprit S3 was registered in October 1986 and has had 5 previous keepers showing since then.
In 2022 just a thousand miles ago the car underwent thousands of pounds worth of recent works including:
Two new rocker covers, valve clearances done, HD upgraded Lotus cambelt, 3 x HD pulleys, HD tensioners and upgraded water pump. Every seal was replaced. There's also been a full HD clutch conversion and crank seals and the carburettors fully refurbished with Lotus rebuild kits plus a handcrafted HD stainless steel heavy gauge exhaust system. Further to this there has been new front brake callipers, discs and pads. The rear callipers have also been rebuilt. The alternator has been reconditioned, there's a new steering rack, aluminium cooling pipes and servo pipe.

The bodywork is immaculate thanks to a full professional repair just three years ago. It's a beautiful job that has been carried out.

It looks even better in the metal, too: a low-slung wedge of sharp creases and aggressive angles.
Except the Lotus isn't made of metal: its body panels are fibreglass, hung on a galvanised steel frame. There are two seats, fully independent suspension and a mid-mounted engine. All very exotic.
The series 3 also got the Turbo variants chassis, brakes and suspension components meaning the car genuinely handles very well and certainly comes alive down a good old British B Road.
