Description
For sale one of the few 2000 factory built John Cooper Works Cooper S GP1s, just 450 made it into the UK market.
This is no garage queen but has had a £6000 restoration completed 2 years ago but has only done 150 miles since. P/ Ex considered try me BMW Z3M , M3 Audi RS or something interesting.
Speedo shows 107320 miles but as just about every moving and mechanical part has been replace or refurbished its a bit irrelevant and it means this is a GP1 your not frightened to use as a low mileage would be and i would claim this is as good as any low mileage GP1 currently for sale.
My 2006 MINI Cooper S JCW GP1, yes its the supercharged one with the factory fitted John Cooper Works upgrades!
Finished in Thunder Blue metallic complimented with a pure silver contrast roof. Unmarked 18 inch light alloy wheels, chilli red mirror caps & white indicators. GP1 specific front & rear bumpers & moldings, side skirts, underside paneling and rear carbon wing spoiler fitted to a GP1 only redesigned hatch all improve the aerodynamics.
GP1 spec factory 1598cc supercharged engine packing an impressive 218bhp (+8 bhp on this one) and 240nm of torque, the JCW GP kits includes an upgraded cylinder head, the difference being slightly enlarged on the exhaust ports. 11% reduction supercharger pulley thus giving you more boost, 1-step colder spark plugs, uprated injectors 380cc up from original 330cc, a JCW Cat-back exhaust system with decorative JCW tips, remapped ECU. These weight in at 1090kgs so makes for a very fast package!
The Recaro sport seats are upholstered in panther black leather with red stitching, lots of adjustment and are heated! The removal of the rear seat bench and the addition of aluminium rear trailing arms, the results of the weight saving can be felt in acceleration and cornering. 3 spoke multi function leather sports steering wheel and anthracite speedo & rev counter faces all add to the experience.

P/ ex consideredHighlights
Brutally quick 225bhp JCW GP model, has a phase 1 cam fitted
designed using track design concepts creating a lightweight GP version.
These cars were lowered with stiffer suspension
Larger brakes ( upgraded to Brembo 4 pots) , aero kit and bespoke GP trim
Car 0668 of only 2, 000 built
Smartly presented in thunder blue metallic with silver roof.
For those who wanted more power from their Cooper S, there was the John Cooper Works package. For those who wanted even more there was the JCW GP. It got 50kg of lightening - so less sound deadening and no rear seat - and lower, stiffer suspension.
An aero kit plus some choice interior upgrades helped these potent cars with 218bhp stand out.
The result is a supercar-bothering supermini that can hit 60mph from a standstill in a shade over 4 seconds. Just 2, 000 were built and this smart, factory-standard example is car number 0668. Each one got bespoke roof numbering, which you can check in the photos.
Looking very smart in thunder blue metallic with a silver roof, this is a very well kept car. The Recaro sports seats show little wear and the bespoke 18in alloys are fully refurbished - both signs of careful owners.
If you want one of the best R53 MINIs then you want a JCW GP.
With so few produced, this is one not to miss.
These are now collectible and appreciating in value but still a useable daily car ideal for everyday use or light track days.
The price of a std JCW's has gone up in the last year.
So this is a very good time to buy a GP1, before they become classic Cooper S values.
