1968 Elan Plus 2 with only three owners from new. 1558 cc engine, 4 speed gear box, Weber carburettors.
After 20 plus years of ownership I’m selling the car due to emigrating. With free road tax, no MOT requirement, £100 a year classic car insurance, it costs very little to keep but deserves a better life than sitting in storage. So it’s time to sell on to someone who will use the car regularly and enjoy it. It drives really well and is a lovely example.
There's been no expense spared on servicing and maintenance. Since 2011 the car has been looked after by GST Performance at Newmarket, one of the top Lotus specialists with over 40 years experience servicing and maintaining Lotuses. Gerald and his team are renowned within the Lotus world for the quality of their work, attention to detail, and are the best in the business. In the first few years of ownership major work was undertaken by Lotus specialists Kelvedon Motors, including CV joint driveshaft conversion, suspension, new Weber carburettors. The car comes with a full history file of all servicing records, receipts, MOTs etc for the full time of my ownership. Driven less than 5, 000 miles since the GST Performance team rebuilt the engine, it’s recently had a major service with new fuel lines, fuel pump and battery. The engine runs smoothly without hesitation and still feels relatively fast for a 57 year old car. The steering is very precise and the roadholding is exactly as a good Lotus should be.
The car was restored by the previous owner between 1997 and 2001 supported by a file of receipts, and is on a Lotus chassis. The body work was also restored and the interior trimmed in leather. The paintwork still presents well with some imperfections to be expected 25 years since being painted. The car has always been garaged and only used in dry weather. The odometer reading was 11, 625 when I purchased the car in 2002 and now shows 29360 miles. I am unable to verify the mileage prior to my ownership.

This Elan starts, stops and drives exceptionally well and has been keenly priced for a quick sale. MOT exempt, but I'd be happy to get the car MOT’d for the new owner.
