Early production car (VIN 000258), part of the Rover Group MGF launch fleet used for promotional and press use. Sold at the closed dealer auction held at Gaydon on 10th June 1996, where it fetched £19, 200.
Finished in British Racing Green metallic paint, and currently fitted with black part leather interior in reasonable condition (slight wear on the driver's seat side piping - see photo). If you want to return it to standard, a black/ green fusion interior (as originally fitted) is also available.
This car has been involved in separate rear and front end collisions in the past, both of which have been repaired to a good standard (apart from the boot lid sits slightly high on the near side). There are a few minor rust bubbles on the front wings, a dent on the top of the offside front wing and a few other minor paint chips, but for a 30 year old car it is in great condition. The bodywork defects can be seen in the photos.
A replacement engine has been fitted at some point during its history. I changed the cambelt in 2021, and also had the Hydragas displacers refurbished by Hydragas & Hydrolastic Service.
This car attended the MGF 20, 25(+1) and recent 30 anniversary meetings at Gaydon, organised by the MGF Register of the MG Car Club. Commemorative items from these events are included in the sale.
The MOT is valid until 24th June 2026. All of the MOTs during my ownership have been passed with no advisories. I had owned two MGFs before this one, so am very much a fan. The opportunity to buy this early production car came up in 2016, and I felt it was an opportunity not to be missed. It is definitely the best one I have owned.
Unfortunately, my personal circumstances have changed in recent years, meaning my MGF is not getting the use I had intended or what it deserves, so I have reluctantly decided it is time to move it on to somebody else to cherish it and get pleasure from using it.
