Description
Jaguar XKSS Realm Evocation.
Built on a Jaguar XK150 chassis first registered on the 1st January 1958, and fitted with a 4. 2 Jaguar straight-six engine. Correctly registered as a Jaguar XK.
It is a completely faithful evocation of the original XKSS, all the way down to the number/ placement of rivets, and even the correct steering wheel for an original XKSS.
The car was built in 1985 by REALM (who also make a C-Type evocation, which I have also owned), and was owned by the last owner for over 29 years, who had it serviced every single year, despite very rarely driving it. It was fully recommissioned and resprayed 2 years ago, and is absolutely immaculate. There are zero stone chips or marks whatsoever, and it looks flawless, as the pictures attest. I've taken it to several car shows this summer and it has been the focus of attention at all of them, even winning best in show last weekend, despite being in the company of Miura's, F40's and the like.
The engine is fitted with triple Webbers carbs, and the car has discs all round. As with most evocations, the car has a modern Toyota 5 speed gearbox, the ratios of which means it's just as happy pootling about as it is being a bit less gentlemanly. My C-Type had the original Moss gearbox with overdrive, and the gearbox in this is much, much nicer to use, and even features the correct "kink" in the gearstick lever.
The interior is unmarked and in exemplary condition, with unmarked and unused carpets, seat and dash. The side screens are fully removable (additionally, I have two spare side screens that I've had fabricated in Lexan as the originals are prone to flexing and cracking), and the roof is only two years old and was only put up for the first time for these photos (which enable me to attest that it's waterproof, as- naturally- it chucked it down whilst I was taking the pictures). The tonneau cover is piped in green, and covers both the roof and the upper bulkhead. The pedal box is fully adjustable should you require more leg room (for reference, I am 6ft 4 and have no issues in either comfort or driving dynamics).
Since purchasing the car, I've spent £7200 having the engine fully refreshed (including the installation of electronic ignition and an upgraded coil, with new leads and plugs), fully tuned, set- up and serviced, the carbs rebuilt, the geometry corrected and established, and the whole car fully gone through and serviced by my local classic Jaguar specialist. I've also added a Fortnum & Mason hamper and a Solar Production parking pass because- well- I think they look lovely, I'm a huge nerd, and the hamper is an excellent place to put your chips on the way home. I'm aware these things are silly, but it's always the little things that make the biggest difference in my experience.
The car is tax and MOT exempt, and needs for nothing whatsoever, other than someone to own it with taste, decorum and probably as many Steve McQueen posters in their house as me. Failing that, I can always lend you some of mine.
The car is- to my eyes- completely indistinguishable from a non-evocation, except that I can actually afford this one. If you're reading this advert, then I'm certain you know that original XKSS's cost over £15, 000, 000 now, and even the alloy-bodied evocations are typically c£400k. To me, a man with less than Oligarch means, that makes my car seem like incredible value. Given that the next cheapest XKSS for sale is £275, 000, I believe I have priced this fairly and accurately, but should you wish for any further details, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Please note that this is a private sale, and I'm only selling it due to a change in circumstances. I'm afraid I wouldn't be interested in part-exchanges, nor am I wishing to list the car via auction or wanting for anyone to sell it for me for a commission.
