Description
With 76bhp on tap, the sidevalve engined Super Six possessed a performance demonstrably superior to that of many six-cylinder rivals costing far more. One of the truly outstanding American cars of its day, the Hudson Super Six remained in production until 1926 when it was replaced by an 'F-Head' design. This right hand drive 1925 Hudson Super Six aluminium bodied tourer was shipped from Australia to the UK about 12 years ago. Since then the car has had a certain amount of restoration work carried out including custom bumpers, rewiring and repainted wings. The carpets and leather seats appear to be good quality replacements. In the vendor's opinion the front seat cushion is too low/ soft and needs to be more supportive and the base set higher. Brakes seem fine by the standards of the era - just very large rear drums.
Front tyres (6. 00 x 21) appear unworn. Rears could do with replacement soon. This Super Six is supplied with a V5C registration document. Dates of first registration therein 03/ 06/ 1925 (Australia) 01/ 10/ 2013 (DVLA, UK), taxation class Historic Vehicle. It is a rare and majestic right hand drive tourer with the desirable and pretty Houk wire wheel extra cost option. The bumpers would have cost a small fortune to make. Indicators and electric wiper fitted. The vendor bought this smart looking Hudson unseen recently as a non running project with an impulsive curiosity simply to see how easily it would revive, conveniently forgetting other projects already here that should be completed! It is now back in running order after attention to the improve steering stiffness and a resolve a coolant leak. Very familiar with American cars of this era having owned since the 1980's a 1922 Hudson Super Six, Buick Master Six, Studebaker Light Six, Jordan, Gardner, Nash, Jones Speedster etc.
