Description
A well-cared for '78 BGT which has undergone a bare metal respray and overhaul in 2010, including a full complement of replacement components and servicing. Full waxoyl treatment to all underside and structural framing.
The engine was enhanced in 2005 by a classic sports motor engineer to include cylinder enlargement to 1950cc, lightened flyweel and polished valves. The engine runs very smoothly across the rev range.
The car has been in the same family since 2003, and used only during summer weekends. As such, no rust present, barring a small patch at the boot lid seam, which penetrates no further than 2mm.
A list of features includes:
- Metallic blue paint from bare-metal respray (2010)
- Anthracite alloy wheels
- Halo Xenon headlights
- Leather upholstery throughout, including centre console
- Replaced black high thread carpets (2014)
- Enlarged high-performance radiator (2005 as part of engine improvements)
- Electronic ignition (no points)
- New wiring harness (2010)
- List of new parts replaced in the past 5 years includes fuel sender and pump, battery, fuel filter, air filters, sound mats and a slew of others. The car is in exceptional condition with no structural or cosmetic rust. Performance is very good, given the improved engine, and almost no components are likely to require replacement in the next 5-10 years. The car is being sold due to lack of use, and to accommodate different vehicles in the garage after over 20 years of enjoyment in its current home.
