Description
1976 Ferrari 308 GT4
Blue dino metallic over sabia with beige cloth inserts
Only on the road for 14 years of its life then carefully stored until this year where I subsequently bought it. Owned by the same owner for the last 37 years. Very low mileage and highly original car.
The car was last taxed in 1990 and was then parked up in a dry warm garage, the car was started regularly and kept running for the duration of its storage period. Upon purchase, I set about a process of recommissioning which has included a major service including cam belts, tensioners, water pump, thermostat, water pipes, header tank, radiator, fuel pump, fuel pipes, carburettor rebuilds, distributors serviced, new HT leads, spark plugs, plug extenders, points and condensers, engine oil and filter, air filter, fuel filter, gearbox oil and coolant.
The result of the above is an engine that performs very well, displaying good oil pressure at all times and running at the correct temperatures.
The car is currently undergoing work to the braking system to include service work to the brake calipers, new pads and brake lines.
Everything on the car works as intended and it is remarkably original and un messed with having been cocooned for so long.
The interior is very original and largely very tidy but unfortunately the seat bases show some splits at the seam where the outer panels join the centre section, these could likely be repaired. Other than that the interior is very nice and totally original. The stereo has been relocated to the dashboard instead of the awkward centre console location and a wooded storage box has been made for the centre console, this could be reverted back to original if desired. All gauges work well as do the electric windows.
The body of the car is very solid with no signs of sinister rot. There are blemishes of course.. the paint is at least 37 years old so what you see is what you get, which is actually quite reassuring as lots of these tend to be made to look pretty but what lurks beneath can be frightening. There is a dent on the LH rear quarter where something fell on the car in storage. The paint is slightly flat but has responded well to polishing, if you’re looking for perfection then you’d paint the car but it can be enjoyed as it is and it’s priced so that you could repaint it and still be in front. The car is still in its original colour and it has always been this colour. Blue dino metallic is a beautiful colour.
The original wheels are structurally good but the paint on them is tatty so will benefit from painting.
The car is complete with a very nice history file documenting everything done to it from 76-90 which supports the low mileage. The work I have had done also will be documented for the history file. The car is complete with its original wallet, hand books, invoice file, toolkit etc.
A very rare opportunity to buy something of a timewarp gt4 finished in a beautiful colour scheme with very low mileage and having been recently fully serviced. This car has amazing potential to improve over time and can also be driven and enjoyed during that process.
More pictures will be added this week
