Description
1967 Lotus Elan+2. Carnival red with black upholstery. This stunning Elan has had just 5 owners from new. In 2017 after it had been in dry storage for 30 years the car embarked on a full nut and bolts restoration which has been completed to a very high standard with an official Club Lotus certificate in the history with an agreed value of £34, 000. The car was rebuilt on a Spyder chassis, other works carried out includes new Spyder half shafts, stainless steel side members and headlight conversion. The seats and doors were all retrimmed by Larry Piper. The body was subject to a back to gelcoat respray by TbP vehicle Body and Paintwork Specialists with the invoice on file and costing £6500. Complete engine rebuild: new pistons, valve and valve guides, oil pump and Burton water pump conversion, cost £4400. The gearbox was stripped and rebuilt with new parts as required. Propshaft overhauled with new universal joints. The electrical system was converted to negative earth with electric ignition. All new ProTech shock absorbers and new brake discs and pads. All four wheel bearings replaced. New hydraulic flexible hoses and most of the brake pipes. Brake callipers and the servo were rebuilt. A new clutch slave cylinder was fitted and master cylinders honed. Five new tyres fitted and wheels powder coated. New Battery. The radiator was rebuilt with triple core all new cooling hoses fitted. The steering rack was refurbished. The twin Weber carburettors were stripped and rebuilt. Replacement new dashboard installed. All brightwork replated as necessary by S&T Chroming plus much much more. The history folder with the car contains most of the receipts and invoices for the parts and work undertaken as well as the Lotus Classic Certificate of Provenance. The car has been set up on a rolling road with a print out on file and drives just as you would expect a car of this quality. Since the restoration the Lotus has covered only 1683 trouble free miles. This is a car that is ready to go with all the work done at a cost substantially more than the asking price. It will grace any showground and is a car that any collector or enthusiast would be proud to own. Absolutely any inspection welcome.
