Due to down sizing and loss of garages reluctant sale of my Mk1 Golf GTI.
Originally owned by an electrical wholesale company in Notts for 3 years (company car?) and then by its 2nd owner for 14 years. I am the 3rd owner and got the car with around 165, 000 miles in April 2000. I then spent over a year undertaking a nut and bolt, windows out restoration using wherever possible new original parts from VW (MK1 parts were still available over the counter from main dealers in 2000), original used parts (scrap yards with MK1s still existed) or OEM from the trade. The original engine was reconditioned and rebuilt by a local engine specialist.
The body work and painting was done by a family friend at the local Range Rover bodyshop, completing the work evenings and weekends. Undersealed and drenched in cavity wax inc engine bay.
I have since covered around 42, 000 miles nearly all in summer months inc the club trip to Wolfsburg in returning via family in Holland.

Main points;

VED/ tax and MOT exempt
No sunroof, clear glass, single headlight grille, none metallic paint, wind up windows - less is more
Restored to original condition, well maintained and cherished since then.
Minor modifications are under bonnet sound deadening from a MK1 Diesel, period Kamei rear spoiler, period Blaupunkt radio cassette and period 3 VDO centre console gauges
Recent(ish) rear exhaust and Pirelli Cinturatos
All invoices, tax discs and MOTs from my time owning the car
Heritage/ birth certificate from VW
Garaged all year.
Can include some spares that I have collected over the years, center exhaust, gearbox, oil filters if buyer wishes to take them
Known issues;
MFA plays up, sometimes not scrolling through options, MPG shows double real value or 99. 9mpg, out side temp is usually -31c
Econometer change up LED rarely flashes but needle in 5th works fine
One small paint bleb on passenger side rear window
Chip on windscreen but went thru MOTs ok went it was MOT'd
Minor slight stone chips commensurate with age/ milage since restoration
Probably what an original well looked after 25year old 40k mile Golf would be like.
