Description

Hi everyone,

Thanks to "management" pressure, I am afraid I will have to depart with my Uno. It is a 1993 white Uno, 5 doors basic spec. This car is really the essence. It is very low mileage (around 61k) and it is in good condition. I bought it around 2010 with around 45k miles but it wasn't well looked after up until then. I've used it until 2014 (or was it 2013?) as my daily until the gearbox broke. I've then replaced the gearbox with a more modern one from the Punto, which also required different driveshafts, starter (so I thought!), flywheel and I've fitted a new clutch. This was done with the car SORN and I've left it on my drive. Since then, I would regularly start the engine and did some additional jobs:

- Brake lines all done

- Master cylinder replaced

- Engine sump replaced

Then in May 2024, I've put it on the road for year as I was down one car, having driven it as my daily car, for a few thousand miles. During this period, I had replaced the front disks brakes and pads, driver's side ball joint , the idle control valve.

It is currently MOTed up until May 2026, so all you need to do is to tax and insure it to drive away.

Good things:

- Low mileage

- Very economical

- Cheap maintenance - parts and so simple to do any job

- To my understanding, no rust in the chassis

- Roof lining and most of the interior trims (no cracks or damaged plastics)

- The tires are less than 3 years old, having done around 5, 000 miles (just a guestimate).

Not so good things:

- Slight wear in the driver's piping and one cut in the rear seat (you can't see it with the parcel shelf on)

- Parcel shelf pilling is just falling off

- Seats could do with a vax (driver's seat very clean though)

- Paint is ok, but no show room condition.

- Cambelt will need to be done (replacement could be discussed with the new owner.

- Near side doors: the lower corners are starting to show some brown - I suspect it is starting to rust.

- The cassette player just stopped working a couple of months ago. I presume the belt snapped. I was going to look into this but alas... no time to have a go at it.

Apologies for the bad pictures.

I would really like it to go to a good home.

Update:
1) Now the cassette player is in fully working condition. I have replaced the belt and it is all good (one new photo uploaded).
2) One of the interested potential buyers kindly pointed that there was a slight irregular sound in the engine. I have narrowed the problem down to the alternator. I have replaced both bearings, one of them was not perfect but still OKish. The noise was really due to the belt, with 3 teeth missing! There are not many left (under 40?). This car is a very practical everyday car. Its simplicity makes this car even more unique.
It is also very economical to run or repair. I really enjoyed driving it in spite of being 30+ years old.
