The vehicle has been in the hands of its current owner for about 30 years, having been acquired in Portugal from a collector.
The vehicle, acquired in England by its previous owner, underwent a thorough restoration, with access to another vehicle as a donor. About 20 years ago, now in the hands of its current owner, it underwent another restoration, with extensive repairs to the engine, suspension, and paintwork. It has remained immaculately maintained and well-preserved to this day.
It is frequently used at vintage car events, has a constant presence and many stories to tell. It is certified as a vehicle of historical interest by a Portuguese entity recognized by the F. I. V. A. This M. G. Model Y was produced between 1947 and 1953. It features a 1, 250 cc gasoline engine with 46 hp. This version boasts some unique features that make it more exclusive than some of its direct competitors of the time, such as an all-leather interior, wooden dashboard, and distinctive octagonal gauges. It also features a sunroof, turn signals, a spare tire in its own compartment, both external and under the trunk, an opening front window, a foot-operated low- and high-speed lever, built-in jacks with lever operation on the engine's oil pump, a supplementary fog light, and a pedal system that was advanced for the time, providing greater comfort and safety for the user. All equipment is perfectly functional and in good condition.
