Welcome to the reluctant sale of my MX5 ND Recaro BBR 200.
This is a superb example of what once was a great little car, made even better by those clever chaps at BBR GTI in Brackley. If you know you know!
In 2016 at the point of registration, the 1st keeper of the car had it delivered to BBR to work their magic.
As part of their ND 200 package they breathed on the engine, consisting of high lift cams and an engine remap, making what was already a charismatic engine and master piece of engineering. On top of this they fitted a full sports exhaust, including a 4 branch manifold, this then opens up the sound to really allow the engine to sing its heart out, albeit in a natural and dignified manner, it certainly pulls a smile on your face.
Finally, they then fitted an adjustable KONI suspension set up and beefed up Elbach anti roll bars. The beauty of this set up is that it’s far superior to the standard, yet retains a level of composure on UK roads that makes you wonder why Mazda didn’t do it themselves.
The car has full service history, with only the latest service been at an independent garage with the rest at Oakmere Mazda. On top of this I recently changed all the fluids myself to Millers oils, it wasn’t a service requirement however I’m probably a bit too obsessive with maintenance, purchase receipts have all been kept.
The car sits on Michelin Pilot Sport 5s all round, I changed the rear as soon as I purchased the car, I refuse to drive a car not wearing matching shoes!
Condition wise, it’s 9 years old and you probably wouldn’t know it looking at it, yes it has the odd chip here and there, however on the whole she is in great shape. If I was been really picky I would probably have the wheels re-done, however they certainly don’t let it down as it stands. The drivers seat shows a little wear on the bolster, noting more than normal.
Reason for the advert is I have seen a car that takes my fancy and ‘you only live once’ is certainly a lot to do with it. I’m not in a rush, please don’t bother low balling and if you fancy a drive out you will be a passenger without proof of fully comprehensive insurance.
This car however probably offers the best value for money for pound for pound performance and usability.
I’m not in a rush, it’s my second car and enjoy having a toy tucked up in the garage!
