Description

Beautiful Series 2 E-Type Jaguar. Owned for just over three years and selling due to only having a single garage, (the DB7 in the photos needs to be stored). ULEZ, road tax and MOT exempt. Benefits from having had long term storage with zero rust, and many new or reconditioned engine components being fitted during recommissioning making it a very reliable road going car.

The included Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust ceriticate shows the car was built in May 1970 and is an original numbers matching UK RH drive car with manual four speed gear box. The colour is the original Warwick Grey and the interior is dark blue. The leather has no faded areas or tears. There is a ring binder with the shows it was entered into, together with some old MOTs and bills, including one for 186 hours in 1979 when the engine was fully rebuilt.

The previous owner had the car for 38 years, gradually stopped using it, and stored it in a heated garage for many years which necessitated a full recommissioning when I bought it in 2022. In total I spent £12, 296 on the works required, (receipts included).

All coolant and brake / clutch fluid lines & hoses were replaced. The extensive list of parts fitted included new radiator, fuel tank, fuel pump, tank transmitter, filler hose, brake & clutch master cylinders, clutch slave cylinder, brake & clutch reservoir pots, brake servo, fan switch, thermostat, battery, belts, water pump, brake & clutch hydraulics. The carbs were stripped and fitted with service packs and then retuned. The starter motor was sent to a specialist reconditioner and rewound and overhauled. Ignition wise it had new distributor cap, points, condenser, coil and HT leads. I visited several times during the weeks the work was being carried out and I have a 5 minute video I took in the workshop while it was half way through. I will message a link to the video on request.

There are some photos of the car up on the ramp when I got it MOT'd, (despite it being exempt), and mechanics who have looked at it say it has had good quality work in the past, even down to the correct locking nuts & wires being fitted as they should. The engine frame and the suspension parts, cross members and axles all look quite new. The car has not seen rain for over 40 years. It drives really well, starts first time on choke and absolutely everything works as it should. The driver's door rubber seal has popped out of its groove and I have a new one on order from SNG Barratt

Although people think the car looks mint, it does have minor chips here and there, not many. Just the expected places like the edge of doors etc. Overall the paint is in really good condition. The tyres are new, sorry if you don't like pinstripe whitewalls. They are 205s, so slightly wider than the original 185s. The steering is not heavy and they seem to give it better grip, and also fill the wheel arches better than the original width.

The mileage is 65, 822 and will increase slightly as I am still driving it in this good weather. The key points of the history are in the description above, but if anyone has anyspecific questions please feel free to ask. There is quite a large amount of paperwork in the ring binder so I am sure I have missed something.
