I’m looking to sell my 1990 mk1 1. 6 UK SPEC mx5. The car has had loads of work done to it in my possession and is an extremely clean, rust free example with MOT till April 2026.
The car has always been stored in a garage during winter and mostly used for short summer journeys. The car is now on 117k miles.
The car drives well, pulls nicely through all the gears with no nocks or crunches. Breaks are firm and responsive.
I have listed some of the work below of which it is all documented and photographed when it was completed.
In the past year it has had a complete front suspension rebuild including shocks, springs, ball joints, bearings and pollybushed control arms. Additionally over £500 has been spent on welding and rust prevention of the underside. (The sills have always been clean and are solid)
The car is mostly original apart from an aftermarket k&n induction kit and an mx5 parts exhaust (original exhaust included).

-power steering hose rebuild
-timing belt, water pump
-cam cover gasket
-Halo Headlights (originals included)
-interior chrome including smiths gauges
-heated window soft top fitted
-oil change and service 500miles ago
-New pioneer speakers
I have some service history from the previous owners however not much. The car has some age related marks however that is to be expected for a 35 year old car.
These cars are only increasing in value so grab a mint example!The car has 7 owners including myself however for a 35 year old car that is to be expected.
The car did nearly 95k miles in the first 10 years of ownership. Then it had some work done (new clutch etc) then since 2010 the car has done around 20k miles
I have some limited history from the previous owners and looking online at MOT history, the car has never had any major issues.
