This has not been an easy decision, but I recently became a father. The time has come to sell my pride and joy to help us to buy a bigger house.
This has been my dream car since I was about 15. I never thought I would be in a position to own one, but when this project came up for sale, I had to have it! The 4-Door Sedans have always been prefered over the 2-Door Coupes for me, mainly because the "wave line" on the rear quarter/ arch is more prominent and stylish that the 2-Door Coupes. I've been told there could be less than five of these 4-Door Sedans in the country.. but I'm not 100%.
I contacted the seller to pay him a visit at his home in London, to check the documents and verified they were legitimate. The following weekend, we went to view it in Portugal. The owner had sent it to a Nissan/ Datsun Classic Car Restorer based in Portugal. The restoration workshop had the car for almost 4 years, but the owner of the car just stored it there and hadn't paid the man to get on with the work. A car came up for sale, and he needed the money to buy it, so he put this up for sale.
I fell in love with it straightaway and had it transported back to the UK. The car was rusty and required a full restoration, but it was complete. That's what mattered to me, as original parts are extremely hard to come by for these at a reasonable price! I could sell it for parts and get considerably more money, but I would prefer to sell it as a complete project and with the hope of someone finishing the car.
All import documents in hand. Imported to the UK, but can't be road registered until it's roadworthy/ MOT ready.
Purchased February 2019, as a complete car. Car was stripped to bare shell. Plenty of photos taken throughout. All parts have been stored in clear/ labelled parts bags and containers, in my house! The body is stored at a workshop about 20 minutes from my house.
The plan was to go down the restomod route, by restoring the bodywork exterior and interior to it's original former glory, but with a modern skyline engine at the heart of her. I managed to source a low mileage/ running RB20DE (NA) 2L 6 cylinder R34 Skyline engine, to replace the original 2L engine. This will go with the car if the asking price is met.
Shell was sandblasted
Body is secured to a rolling jig/ frame to keep the body square and make it easy to move around.
