Description

I bought this lovely Midget last year when I had plans to set up a classic MG hire company. My plans have now changed please see my website cotswoldclassichire. co. uk if your interested, it has a page on this Midget. Anyway back in 1990 this little car went into a dry garage not to emerge until last year. So although it is 55 years old it’s only been out and about for 20, so is in remarkably well preserved condition. Never been welded (until I replaced the battery tray) still with all its original panels and no rust (apart from the odd little bit of surface rust here and there).
It has been re-sprayed at some point 40 plus years ago and the paint is still looking well and holds a good shine. I have re-sprayed the front passenger wing as it had a few scabs on the arch, only on the surface and the colour match isn’t perfect. That’s all the body work that I have done other than touch up the odd bit with a fine brush so it’s very original, I don’t believe there is a bit of filler on it anywhere.
It has had an extensive mechanical overhaul, recon unleaded engine just before it was laid up, recon gearbox with all new bearings, seals, gaskets and a new laygear (as first was a bit noisy). New discs, pads, callipers, hoses, bearings, bushes on the front, new shoes, bushes, hoses, cylinders on the back. New E10 safe fuel lines, reconditioned fuel tank with new sender, new E10 safe float needles and seats, recon steering rack with new gaiters. New coolant hoses and door handles. I have been right through this car so likely have forgotten the half of it, runs and drives very nicely, the engine in particular is very quiet and sweet.
Excellent hood, hood cover, tonneau cover, interior is excellent as are the seats.
It would make a great show car (though it would need a paintjob) if that’s your thing I do have the original steering wheel, wheels and centre console included in the sale if you want them.
The car is in very good order but it’s not perfect, if it was it would be £10K. If I was keeping it then I think I would give it a good going over underneath, scrapping off all the old underseal and applying fresh wax oil. If you planning on keeping it in a garage and only taking it out on dry days then it’s fine as is, but if you use it in the rain this will need doing at some point.
I also have an ultra rare Toyota T50 5 speed conversion available for this car, and if the new owner doesn’t want it will sell it on afterwards. Never been welded, still looking good in 40+ year old paint, no filler nothing to hide, original panels. Reconditioned engine and gearbox, excellent order throughout.
