Description
Ford capri 2. 0 gtxlr 1973 in daytona yellow, the car is in good solid condition with 50. 000 miles on the clock which i believe is the genuine mileage but no proof to back up other than the overall condition of a 52 year old car. Was originally a v4 engine fitted, but when I purchased the car this had been replaced with a 2. 0 pinto engine and type 9 5 speed gearbox. Since purchasing the capri I have removed the pinto engine and replaced with a 2. 0 cosworth yb turbo engine and tremec t5 gearbox. Before fitting, the battery tray and radiator mountings were removed to accommodate the radiator and intercooler . The engine bay was prepped and painted before engine fitment, original wiring loom and L6 ecu running the engine. Fuel pump and filter fitted in the boot and battery relocated to boot. I have the original cloth/ vinyl front seats to go with sale, rear seat still in the car. i have fabricated seat mountings and fitted leather audi tt seats up front still fully adjustable. Single piece custom built propshaft, front strut inserts replaced with gaz top adjustable. 4 new tyres fitted 205 60 13 on ford mustang slot magnesium wheels. New front calipers and pads, rebuilt rear drums with new shoes and wheel cylinders and braided brake lines. New copper brake pipes, new seals on servo. 2 owners from new.
The Ford Capri was Ford’s answer to the European sports coupe market, offering Mustang-inspired styling with practical running costs. By 1973, the final year of the Mk1, the Capri had become one of Britain’s most popular performance cars, known for its sleek lines and wide range of trim options. The GT XLR was one of the higher-spec models, combining sporty looks with extra comfort and equipment.
This example, finished in original Daytona Yellow, represents that era perfectly. Showing 50, 000 miles, its overall condition supports the mileage as genuine for a 52-year-old car. It left the factory with a V4 engine but was later upgraded to a 2. 0 Pinto and Type 9 five-speed gearbox before receiving its current 2. 0 Cosworth YB turbo engine paired with a Tremec T5 gearbox.
